Disability inclusion "Abilities in Action" is the theme for the Festival with hundreds in attendance ready to get their wheelchairs washed, waxed, and receive a minor tune up, haircut, manicure, massage for free! The event is at no cost and open to everyone.<br>

Solis. “This is a wonderful celebration of culture, compassion, and community. Familia Unida has provided individuals with disabilities and their families with educational, health, and fun supportive services for many years, and I applaud Familia Unida for their kindness and long-lasting commitment to serve others.”said Supervisor Hilda L. A red carpet opening ceremony for riders to roll in VIP style begins at 11am with a blessing of the wheelchairs and 16 doves released to commemorate the 16th annual anniversary. “The white doves are symbolic and one by one the doves will be let go to fly back home to remind us of the importance of having more peace and love in our hearts and in our community. The event is at no cost and open to everyone. A delicious lunch will be served from 12-2pm thanks to Steven Steakhouse, Pronto Pizza, Teresitas Restaurante and Tia Gladys. Live entertainment showcasing a variety of music will fill the air with sprinkles of love. Dance to the rhythm that moves you until 6pm. Special surprises and treats for our guest! Performances from entertainers live begin with Comedian Rudy Moreno. Followed by Live bands and at 2:00 pm special performances by persons living with a disability will be showcasing their talents. Featuring Ms. Omoze Osagiede and Mr. Colton Bryant. Ms. Omoze is living with Multiple Sclerosis reminding us that MS can stand for Music and Soul. Ms. Omoze says that her spirituality and music brings her inner peace and reminds her to keep pushing forward. Mr. Colton Bryant is living with a spinal cord injury and forgets about being in a wheelchair when he sings especially love songs. Colton smiles when he feels the love back from the community when he sings. Other Abilities in Action Advocate Performances include; Eduardo Medrano, Elisa Vasquez, Chuey L. Velasco and Guillermo Gomez. Live performances featuring Cecilio Duenas “Vicente Fernandez interpreter” Universo Musical de Durango, Ballet Florkorico Mil Amores, Nikolas Carreon, Lorena Cabrera, Grupo Fuerza Salazar, Radio Station Klove.107.5 giving out prizes during the dance contest. The Wheelchair Wash Festival was created to bring awareness to the diverse abilities of all, increase socialization, promote healthier lifestyles, maximize the quality of life rooted in love, and an opportunity to learn about health, community and employment resources, reconnect with friends and make new ones too! More than anything, it's a reminder to us all that all lives matter and any day is a good day to share love, embrace diversity and inclusion respectfully. For 16 years Familia Unida a Southern California non-profit recognized nationally and internationally has been hosting this festival with the support from community, corporations, government and an abundance of volunteers.
