  10. IB Timeline • 9th grade: Community Project (Spring 2020) • 10th grade: Select CP or DP (Winter 2019) • 10th grade: Personal Project (Spring 2020) • 11th – 12th grades: DP or CP (exams May 2020-21)

  11. Moving to DP/CP • Magnet students accepted into IB for 9th or 10th grade will be in Honors MYP classes and will travel mostly as a cohort • If all requirements are fulfilled at the end of 10th grade, students can choose the DP or CP

  12. IB Diploma Programme • Six IB academic courses (Grading scale 1-7) • IB Diploma Core • Theory of Knowledge • Creativity, Activity, Service • Extended Essay • Must earn 24 points and complete the Core

  13. IB Career-related Programme • Finish Career Pathway (11th-12th grade) • Take two or more DP classes: score 3 or better • Take the CP Core • Personal and Professional Skills • Reflective Project • Language Development • Service Learning

  19. Language Acquisition • Currently, all 9th graders will take Spanish • If you took 8th grade Spanish but did not earn high school credit: • Spanish I diagnostic test on April 24 from 4:00-5:30 • It is very helpful to take Spanish II in 9th grade!

Language AcquisitionSAT Prep/EconScientific Research I • Courses must be “skinnied.” • Students will attend class on alternating days • Students still earn full credit for classes 9thgrade: • Spanish will be “skinnied” with SAT Prep/Sci. Research I 10th grade: • Spanish will be “skinnied” with Honors Economics

How Grades Work • RCSS reports grades on 4.0 scale. • Numeric average is the tie-breaker for class rank • A and B classes are worth 0.5 credits apiece (1 total) • Be careful with your grades!! • IB and AP classes are year-long and weighted (5.0) • Year is divided into four 9-weeks periods. • Finals in A/B courses in December/May (20% of grade) • Finals in IB/AP courses in May (20% of grade)

  27. Transportation • All IB students receive transportation • We have your transportation requests on file: please inform us of any changes in preference • If your address has changed, please notify us tonight! If it changes in the future, please notify us so we can make adjustments
