What is Techbook? • A comprehensive digital tool to replace traditional textbooks. • Uses the 5 E model of instruction
How did we get it approved? • Research into why we need 21st century learning tools. • Science department was up for textbook purchases. • Net books purchased • Techbook purchased • Kept traditional text from last purchase five years ago • Cheaper than new textbooks and more relevant to student interest using technology. Making DE your own… • Some of the documents are not suited for our students. • The challenge of the bogus brakes • Student guide for the investigations does not have step by step instructions • Modified the teacher guide to be a student guide to the investigation • Mythbusters • The sheet was not clear for the students in 7th grade • Changed it to reflect scientific method • Interactive Glossary
