IPL AUCTION 2018: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders went into the 2018 IPL auction and purchased 19 players with their allotted sum of 80 Cr. Their bowling line-up is loaded with speed demons like Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson and Andre Russell to name a few. India U19 pacers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti also make the cut with R Vinay Kumar. They have a decent spin quota too with the mysterious Sunil Narine and leggy Piyush Chawla, but only time will tell whether this bowling strength can help KKR in tough situations.

  1. IPL AUCTION 2018: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders went into the 2018 IPL auction and purchased 19 players with their allotted sum of 80 Cr. 
 
 Their bowling line-up is loaded with speed demons like Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson and Andre Russell to name a few. India U19 pacers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti also make the cut with R Vinay Kumar. They have a decent spin quota too with the mysterious Sunil Narine and leggy Piyush Chawla, but only time will tell whether this bowling strength can help KKR in tough situations.
 
 It is the batting, however that has been a major worry for fans and fantasy cricket players alike. Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik make up for the only impact names in the batting scenario and with Gautam Gambhir now part of the Delhi franchise, it is hard to envision who will captain KKR come the start of the season. Gambhir was a crucial part of the winning KKR side and made crucial decisions in pressure situations to take them to the top. A notable mention to KKR mainstay Robin Uthappa who in all probability will be donning the keepers gloves and in the absence of a leader might prove to be the driving force in the team. Although, how they will cope with the absence of a natural leader is something to observe when the 2018 IPL begins.
