Due to the numerous shrines and temples, it is also known as Devbhumi (Country of Gods). The Char Dham Yatra by helicopter, which encompasses four of the most revered temples in the region, is a major pilgrimage site in the state. Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath constitute the four temples. Gangotri: Situated at an altitude of 3200 metres, this temple is devoted to the sacred river of India, Goddess Ganga. The trek to the temple is rather treacherous; therefore it is advised to take care. This temple is located at an elevation of 3,293 metres and is devoted to the goddess Yamuna. It is famous for its medicinal hot springs. This temple is located at an elevation of 3,581 metres and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated along the banks of the Mandakini River and is the tallest of the four temples. This temple is situated at an elevation of 3,133 metres and is devoted to Lord Vishnu. It is famous for its vistas of the Himalayas and its therapeutic hot springs. A Char Dham Yatra is immensely popular in Uttarakhand and is regarded as a pious pilgrimage. A Char Dham Yatra is thought to be the sole way to reach moksha and freedom from the cycle of life and death.
