  2. What is the effect of solutions with different concentrations on the size of an egg yolk?

  3. The Experiment

  4. 5 cups of water 5 egg yolks sugar Materials

  5. Instructions • Take 5 beakers • Add a cup of water to each • Add an egg yolk to each • Add 0-4 tablespoons of sugar to each • 0 tbsp to the first beaker, 1 tbsp to the next, 2 tbsp to the next and so forth

  6. Hypothesis

  7. We think the egg yolks with sugar will shrivel up and decrease in size.

  8. Hypothesis support We think this is what’s going to happen because… The sugar will absorb the egg yolk and make the egg yolk decrease in size and the egg yolk with no sugar and just water will increase in size.

  9. Day 2 Day 1 No sugar 3cm 1tb 3½cm 2tb 3cm 3tb 4cm 4tb 4cm No sugar 3cm 1tb 2½cm 2tb 2½cm 3tb 2½cm 4tb 2½cm This is the progress

  10. Day 4 Day 3 No sugar 4cm 1tb 2½cm 2tb 2½cm 3tb 2cm 4tb 2cm No sugar 4cm 1tb 2½cm 2tb 2cm 3tb 2cm 4tb 2cm The progress

  11. Conclusion In the end, the egg yolk with the most amount of sugar got the smallest and the egg yolk with no sugar stayed the same. We now know that egg yolks will shrivel up with sugar.
