  6. Responsibilities of the School Council Just as parents are important to their children’s success in school, schools also do better when parents are fully respected and engaged as partners with schools. Parents are therefore an important part of our School Council. The major areas in which Councils assist the principal are the following: • Adopting educational goals for the school • Identifying educational needs of students in the school • Reviewing the annual school budget Developing a school improvement plan which must correspond to the district improvement plan The next meeting is September 20, 2012 @4:00. Student Assignment/Handbooks Each student has been given an assignment/handbook. Each child is responsible for maintaining this book throughout the year. (Replacement books are $3.00). Parents are encouraged to communicate with the classroom teacher through this book. Each teacher has been given an assignment wall chart as a guide for the students. Wire Village Peer Leaders Students in grades 5 and 6 will be invited to join the Wire Village Peer Leaders Group. Interested students should be model students who are interested in promoting and participating in all the wonderful things that occur at Wire Village. Students that are interested should listen for the upcoming announcement on how to become involved.

  7. Pick Ups When picking up a student, parents (or designees) are asked to park within the parking area in designated spaces. During the day dismissals are done through the office. After 2:40, parents may pick up their children in the gymnasium Traffic Pattern Entering When driving toward the school, please keep to the right as you approach the school. Enter the parking area at the first opening. Drop Offs If dropping off a student, continue within the parking area toward the school. Then stop closest to the crosswalk by the front door (if indoor recess-note orange cones by entrance), or continue around the parking area towards the second crosswalk on the left end of the building (if outdoor recess). Leaving Leave the parking area at either opening on the opposite side. Outer Drive Only busses and emergency vehicles should be in the outer drive that passes in front of the school. This is a NO PARKING AREA at all times. This drive continues the ONE WAY pattern.
