Lesson 2 Daily Vocab & What Makes a “Good” Poster?
Today’s Plan • Daily Vocab • What Makes a “Good” Poster? • Build Criteria • Collect Data • Report to Class • Noun, Verb, Adverb, & Adjective posters • Create • Jigsaw
Daily Vocab • Take out your vocab journals • Write your Daily Vocab word on the board • Update your journal • Use your dictionary • Discuss your words with your partner • Report out to the class
What Makes a “Good” Poster? • There are several posters on the walls around the room • Using the Yellowstickies, write what is “good” about the posters and stick it to them • Using the Bluestickies, write what is “bad” about the posters and stick it to them • Create a T-chart on a piece of paper and go around to all of the posters and collect the data (will be your exit ticket from class)
What Makes a “Good” Poster? • With your partner, make a list of the top 5 things a poster needs to be “good” • Confer with your table, and the oldest member of your table will report out to the class • Now we have the Criteria for what makes a “good” poster
Noun, Verb, Adverb, & Adjective Posters • In groups of 4, create posters for each of the main terms that make up sentences • The best poster for each term will be posted in the classroom to help us remember the terms throughout the year.
Tips for a Useful Poster • Brainstorm the definitions of the terms noun, verb, adjective, adverb • Provide examples on the poster • Do the poster in pencil first • Then, make sure to use colour (your own colouring tools) • Don’t forget the criteria that makes a “good” poster
Noun, Verb, Adverb, & Adjective Posters • Number yourselves off within your group • Each group needs to decide which of their term posters is the best • The best poster will be put up on the wall for all the world to see (but mostly just for our own use)
