Mirages. - Refractive index decreases in the warmer air (where the density is lower) . - (b) Incoming light ray gets progressively bent towards the horizontal. - (c) Lower portion of horizontal ray moves slightly faster than upper portion since it is still in the warmer air.

“Superior” mirages: - Mirage is above the object
