4. What is a Peptic Ulcer? • An erosion in the mucosa of the GIT – can penetrate other tissue layers • Gastric Ulcer (5% lifetime risk, 90% lesser curvature) • Duodenal Ulcer (15% lifetime risk) • Other types of ulcers in GIT • Oesophageal ulcer • Stress ulcer
