Governor’s Global Education Conference March 10, 2010 “Linking Global Education Activities Across the State” Faculty and Institutional Development Through International Travel Dr. Kelly Allen, Pam Chew, Dr. Douglas Price Tulsa Community College
It goes with out saying, that face to face international contacts can go a long way to fostering and developing future partnerships.
International Professional Opportunity Development “grant” was born as means to: • to provide faculty development opportunities in international contexts, • to obtain and foster relevant college/university contact(s) while in the country of interest, • to provide curriculum development opportunities leading to the expansion of international learning in the classroom, and • to educate TCC on the experience.
It is worth mentioning that these types of programs are very budget sensitive. • Our International Professional Development Opportunity grant program is on hold due to current economic conditions and restrictions on international travel. • Hope to some day have the program again.
Today we are featuring two of our International Opportunity Development grant recipients. • Dr. Kelly Allen, Associate Professor, Geography – TCC, Metro Campus • Pam Chew, Associate Professor, Foreign Languages and ESL, TCC, Northeast Campus • I am Doug Price, Dean of Global Education at TCC
