FOR A MAV $.... I'll give a Mav $ to the 1st student to list the 7 properties of a Rectangle WITHOUT using your notes.
Notes Section 6.4 - Rhombus & Square 1-27-2010 RHOMBUS: A parallelogram that has 4 congruent sides SQUARE: A Quadrilateral with 4 right angles and 4 congruent sides
JUST LIKE YESTERDAY... Parallelogram - a quadrilateral where 2 opposite sides are parallel. Properties of a parallelogram: 1. two pairs of opposite sides are congruent. 2. consecutive interior angles are supplementary. 3. Opposite angles are congruent. 4. The diagonals bisect each other. Renumber them and you have the first 5 properties of a rhombus
The Rhombus has 3 Additional properties... 6. 4 congruent sides 7. Diagonals are perpendicular 8. Diagonals are angle bisectors * This means that the Diagonals form 4 congruent RIGHT triangles.
* This means that the Diagonals form 4 congruent RIGHT triangles. (this all helps us with solving!)
The Square has 2 Additional properties... 9. 4 right angles 10. Diagonals are Congruent * These are the same 2 properties you learned about RECTANGLES. ** The Diagonal property means that they form 4 congruent ISOSCELES RIGHT triangles.
45o 45o 45o 45o 45o 45o 45o 45o * This means that the Diagonals form 4 congruent ISOSCELES RIGHT triangles. (At this point there is no need for solving angles....they're all solved!)
