Communication adapter for experiment board Students: Nir Engelberg Ezequiel Hadid Supervisor: Mony Orbach In association with: Electrical Engeneering Laboratory November 23, Winter 2004
Project Goals: Developing a Communication adapter to connect between a USB PC Port and an Experiment board.
Why USB instate of RS232? • RS232 is disappearing from the PC’s. • We can find a USB Port in all computer today. • USB supports a bigger flow of data . • USB gives the potential to add more complex applications to the system.
Requirements: • A standard adaptor for all the boards in the laboratory. • Support currently used applications. • Support of a future more complex flow of data.
How the system works today? • Open the PC Program. • Turn on the Experiment Board. • In the Ex. Board a number is randomly chosen using a signal received from the PC to stop the counter. • This number sets the value of the different components. • This number is sent to the PC. • The PC loads the right results based on this number.
