Faith that moves Mountains • Since we have a BIG awesome God, what kind of faith do you think He deserves? • What kind of faith you should have? • How can it move mountains? • What are the mountains in your lives? • Faith is the greatest word that can change man’s destiny forever. • Faith can change man’s course, • heal the sick, save his soul, • deliver from evil, be blessed financially, • open the windows of heaven, • receive miracles and promises from God.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. • Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
I. ESSENCE OF FAITH • Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. • It is being sure and not doubt. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. • It is the acceptance of what God has said and promised.
Luke 12: • 22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. • 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. • 24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? • 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? • 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. • 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. • 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. • 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
II FOUNDATION OF FAITH • For the saints Christ is the foundation of faith • 1 Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. • A. Laid on the Rock • 1. Know Christ first • Psalms 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. • 2. Believe in Him • John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
Matthew 14: • 22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. • 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. • 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. • 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. • 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. • 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. • 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. • 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? • 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. • 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
III. WORKING FAITH • A. Work of Faith • 1. Acting the right way – God’s ways and thoughts • Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. • Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. • B. Founded on the Word of God • 1. Built in the Word of God
Matthew 8:8-11 • The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
a. Faith comes from knowing His Word • Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. • b. We can act right when we know what He says. • Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. • c. It is believing God in His word that He will do it. • Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Matthew 8:24-27 • And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
