Stelae. Maya Stelae are statues that were created by the Mayans of ancient Mesoamerica. They’re all made out of tall figures carved to look like something like this. Maya Stelae were used to record important events and dates. This culture used a writing system based on glyphs.

The pictures on the of Maya glyphs is incomparable from anything in the world because of its designs
The Stelais read from top to bottom and each glyph has a meaning
The first row has the Introductory glyphit says "Here comes an important date"
From rows 2 to 6 all the glyphs represent different time periods, their names and duration in days are described in the table.
These glyphs all have numbers preceding them which indicate how many of these time periods Baktun= 144,000 daysKatun = 7,200 daysTun= 360 daysUinal = 20 daysKin = 1 dayhave passed since the Maya Calendar's starting date, Aug. 13, 3114 BC.
Many stelaerepresent the Gods and Goddesses which the Mayans worshiped.
