Utility Corridor and Roadway Relocation Project Re-use of Excess Soil • Excess soil estimate = 195,000 tons • Current cost to re-use = $0 • Current cost to dispose offsite = $100 per ton • Cost avoidance potential = $19.5 million Additional Benefits of Re-use • Re-use of landfill materials at the source • Site elevation increases to address storm surge concerns • Avoidance of 6,800 truck trips needed to dispose 195,000 tons of excess soil will reduce vehicle emissions and on-campus traffic related to "to and from" truck trips
