  5. Relevance • Because of the academic formation of new researchers, practitioners, designers and engineers alike, in HCI in Latin America • It takes time and resources • Education is the key. UTM México

  12. Why didn’t I use it? • I needed too much resources which I didn’t have (time, teachers, bibliography) • For an immediate effort, the objective was, back then, to raise interest. UTM México

  17. How it evolved • Materials published on line • Afterwards, self-organised by students • Weekly meetings, workshop style • Continued for an advanced level. UTM México

  18. Results • Great interest • Better development of GUIs by students involved in the Study Group on further studies • Conducted usability testing for final software engineering projects. UTM México

  19. Goals achieved • Actual consideration of HCI as part of the syllabus in computing and electronics BScs • Creation of the SW Engineering Master degree and its HCI courses • The new usability lab • One thesis, more to come. UTM México
