  2. Sustainable Energy & Environmental Stewardship • Goal of 10% Renewables by 2020 • About 400 MW • Why? • Helps to defer baseload generation • Helps minimize the risk of a RES • Will help minimize carbon tax costs to OPPD

  3. OPPD Wind Projects • Valley Turbine – 660kw • 10 MW from Ainsworth Wind Farm • 25 MW from Elkhorn Ridge Wind Farm • Possible new site on Interstate 80 west of Omaha

  4. OPPD Wind Projects • 80 MW RFP • Released in Aug 2008 • Received bids in Oct 2008 • 12 Proposals • Anticipated Award on April 1, 2009 • April 1, 2009 also Transition Date from MAPP to SPP • Actual Award August 14, 2009

  5. SPP Transition • Approvals Needed • Interconnection • Delivery • MAPP – 6 months • SPP – 2 years

  6. Flat Water Wind Farm • 60 MW Flat Water Wind Farm • JW Prairie Wind Power • Richardson County, NE • 42% Capacity Factor • 40 GE 1.5 MW Turbines • Construction of Substation started in October, 2009 • COD is anticipated June 30, 2010

  10. USFW & NGP • Precautionary Measures for Migratory Birds • Asking JW Prairie for Bird Diverters on Shieldwires • Negotiations are still underway
