Consequences: • Red algal blooms and gypsum deposits in the Dead Sea • Soil and ground water contamination due to pipeline leakages • Massive pumping out of the Gulf of Aqaba could harm vulnerable ecosystems • Estimated cost is over 10 billion U.S. dollars
