Some Features of the Film • Training in Egypt • Arrogance of British Officers • Lighthorse – Nice uniform, feather in hat • Death in the trenches • Making of bomb from Billy beef cans • Runners for communication • Whistle as cue to get out of the trench • Opinion back home – respect for soldiers, disrespect for those not willing to fight.

Characters Red = Killed Blue = Wounded, dies from wounds Purple = Lived • Archie • An optimist, young and longs for adventure • He doesn’t know how the war started, but blames the Germans and fears the takeover of • Australia – says ‘You gotta be in it’ • Enters into the Lighthorse men – He is good on a horse. In Gallipoli the light horse had no horses • Frank • ‘Not our War, it’s an English war’ • Anti-English, his dad is Irish • Not treated well at home when he says he is not going to fight
