Overview • CCTV in metro stations – often >200 cameras in a single station • Impossible to monitor all of them • Generation of image processing techniques to automate monitoring • Inclusion of stakeholders: LUL, RATP, ATM, MetroLisboa, Brussels, Newcastle
UCL contribution • To assess the factors that affect perceptions of personal security risks in public transport spaces from the perspective of key stakeholders • To identify stakeholders’ expectations of a computer supported surveillance system, such as passenger information, response procedures, privacy issues.
Future - REASON • Combination of in-vehicle and off-vehicle CCTV systems in real time • UCL contribution: • Develop understanding of the ethical concerns of such monitoring • Provide laboratory facilities for testing systems
