Judy’s Roles To end March 2013 From May 2013 Public Health England (South region) Workforce development Including appraisal and revalidation • Appraiser and appraisal trainer (all specialties, south of England) • Responding to Concerns lead (Sof E) • Associate dean for revalidation Oxford Deanery

  3. How does it affect trainees? • Revalidation started 3 December 2012 and will begin from 1 April 2013 for trainees • Part of the ARCP / RITA process • New national forms! • Trainees will revalidate at CCT or at 5 years from registration whichever is earliest BUT fitness to practise will be considered at every ARCP / RITA

  4. New words Trust / PCT Responsible Officer – Michael Bannon Designated body – Oxford Deanery Postgraduate Dean makes a ‘revalidation recommendation’ to the GMC

  5. Who is responsible for whom ? Local Area Teams Trusts Deanery • GPs • Consultants • SAS • MTIs • Clinical fellows / assistants • Trainees with national training number • LATs with Oxford Deanery reference number

  6. New national forms! • ‘Enhanced form R’ which includes declarations on: • Scope of practice • Significant events and complaints • Compliments • Probity • Health • Form R should be shared with the ES and returned to the Deanery at least 2 weeks prior to ARCP

  7. Examples of wider scope of practice: • Locum work • Voluntary work – Olympics / local rugby club • Overseas work • Research • Educational role • Editor

  8. Process - Triangulation of Evidence at the ARCP Panel Trainee Trust / PCT

  9. Additional question to be added to the educational / clinical supervisor report: • Are you aware if this trainee has been involved in any conduct, capability or Serious Untoward Incidents/ Significant Event Investigation or named in any complaint? • Yes/ No

  10. Trust / PCT ‘collective’ report

  11. Exception report completed by Trust / PCT if concerns have been raised
