  2. Juan Arvelo md is a dedicated scientist as well as a technical writer, with 30 years of experience in government, industry and academic institutions leading various science & technology efforts. He holds a doctoral degree in Physics from the Catholic University of America, Washington DC. Presently, he is working as an Instructor at the Applied Technology Institute; Faculty Research Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department, Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University; and Principal Professional Staff, National Security Technology Department of Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He has authored many professional publications, book chapters and patents, and is a well-respected member of various professional societies.

He obtained Stuart S. Janney Research Fellowship, Johns Hopkins APL (2000, 2007 & 2012), Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Special Operations Command, SOCOM (2010), Excellence in Service, Littoral Warfare Advanced Development (2003) and more. He was also honored with Johns Hopkins University Diversity Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to the APL’s Women and Minorities Advisory Committee.

  4. In addition to being a Physicist, Juan Arvelo md is also an extensively experienced Technical Writer, Editor and Proofreader who knows how to make a manuscript publishable. During the course of his career, he has authored many patents, book chapters, technical reports and research publications. He serves as Associate Editor for two popular scientific journals, Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, and Proceedings on Meetings in Acoustics, ASA. He has in-depth knowledge of technical documentation concepts and can assist one in technical manuscript editing & proofreading, patent research & preparation, Resume/CV preparation & editing, and English-Spanish Translation.

Over the years, Juan Arvelo md has acquired expertise in areas of systems design and performance evaluation, data analysis and interpretation, digital signal processing, and experimental design and conduct. He has vast experience in formulating mathematical models to learn various environmental and physical effects on detection and communication systems. He has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. He enjoys sports in his free time and has keen interest in landscaping, music and live theatre.
