  1. Halloween Презентация выполнена учеником 7а класса ГБОУ СОШ № 180 Кабицким Павлом Санкт –Петербург 2013 год

  2. The History of Halloween • Halloween, celebrated each year on October 31, is a mix of ancient Celtic practices, Catholic  and Roman religious rituals and European folk traditions that blended together over time to create the holiday we know today.

  3. Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity and life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. Halloween has long been thought of as a day when the dead can return to the earth, and ancient Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off these roaming ghosts.

  4. The Celtic holiday of Samhain, the Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and the Roman festival of Feralia all influenced the modern holiday of Halloween. In the 19th century, Halloween began to lose its religious connotation, becoming a more secular community-based children's holiday. Although the superstitions and beliefs surrounding Halloween may have evolved over the years, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people can still look forward to parades, costumes and sweet treats to usher in the winter season.

  5. Poems about Halloween Jack-o-lantern (Джек-фонарь) Jack-o-lantern, Jack-o-lantern, (Джек-фонарь, Джек-фонарь) you are such a funny sight (ты такой смешной на вид) As you sit there by the window, (Когда сидишь у окна) looking out at the night (глядя в ночь) You were once a sturdy pumpkin (Ты был когда-то прочной тыквой) growing on a vine (растущей на лозе) Now you are a Jack-o-lantern, (Теперь ты Джек-фонарь,) see the light shine (смотри как ярок свет)

  6. Halloween (Хэллоуин) Tonight is the night (Сегодня ночь) When dead leaves fly (Когда мертвые листья летают) Like witches on switches (Как ведьмы на метлах) Across the sky, (По небу,) When elf and sprite (Когда эльфы и феи) Flit through the night (Летают ночью) On a moony sheen. (В лунном сиянии.)

  7. Tonight is the night (Сегодня ночь) When leaves make a sound (Когда листья звучат) Like a gnome in his home (Как гном в своем доме) Under the ground, (Под землей) When spooks and trolls (Когда призраки и тролли) Creep out of holes (Выползают из нор) Mossy and green. (Мшистые и зеленые.)

  8. Tonight is the night (Сегодня ночь) When pumpkins stare (Когда тыквы глядят) Through sheaves and leaves (Сквозь снопы и листья) Everywhere, (Везде,) When ghouls and ghost (Когда упыри и призраки) And goblin host (И гоблинов масса) Dance round their queen. (Танцуют вокруг королевы своей.) It's Halloween. (Это Хэллоуин.)
