Apalachee By Anne, Armaan, Luis, and Esmeralda
Geography • The Apalachee tribe lived close to Tallahassee, Florida. • They lived in the Northwest part of Florida. • They also lived near the Gulf of Mexico.
Shelter • The Apalachee tribe built their houses covered with palm leaves or bark. • The Apalachee grew food in their homes. • They built their houses near the Apalachicola national forest.
Clothing • The Apalachee’sclothes were made out of deer skin. • Some times the Apalacheedid not wear clothes at all. • Apalacheewomen wore knee-length, skirts, shoulder-to-ankle and the men wore loincloths (made of animal skin).
Food • The Apalachee tribe grew corn, beans, and squash. • Men hunted bear and small animals. • Women gathered nuts and berries.
Traditions • Apalachee spoke a Muskogean language. • They also played a ball game that was a religious exercise. • Many of them were Christians.
History • Lake Jackson was one of the Apalachee’s prehistoric capital land. • Most of the tribe members were killed by the Spanish. • The remaining tribe members moved to St.Augustine.
Uniqueness • The Apalachee tribe is unique for their pottery • They were also unique for their amazing basket weaving. • Without those talents they would not be able to do many things.
