Green Fee • What is it? A $5 per semester student fee to support campus sustainability • Supported by Student Survey from SFE • Passed by Student Senate, EAC, and Administration • Partially paid for Sustainability Coordinator position • Funds projects around campus • Filtered Water stations • FreeStore • Reusable Mugs • Traditional Skills Workshops
Sustainability Employment • Sustainability Employment is used to pay students for their time spent promoting campus sustainability. Some examples of projects include: • Reducing junk mail • Setting up an environmental art show • Researching recycling signage • Recording outdoor illuminescence • Calculating air miles for faculty and staff • Researching composting options
Green Fee Mini-Grants • Green Fee Mini-Grants can provide up to $500 for a project that will promote campus sustainability. Some examples of student projects: • Purchasing cloth bags • Constructing wood duck houses • Awards for an energy-saving competition • Habitat for Humanity, Women Build • Cell phone drive • SattgastAquarium project • Reusable bowls for the Festival of Nations
Bus stop shelters • Recommendation from Student Senate to increase ridership on local transit • Partnership between Physical Plant, Sustainability Office, and Paul Bunyan Transit • Two new shelters installed September, 2010 • One installed with a solar photovoltaic LED lighting system
