  3. Other styles of figures... • The Harvest Figure, with its Halloween associations, allow for more experimentation and a much wider interpretation of what a figure is. • The Harvest Figure also allows the idea of practicality to be abandoned in favor of impact and aesthetics.

The design problem... • Create a figure, either Harvest or Scarecrow, that is well designed, unique and is expressive. • You should construct with sculptural principles and theory in mind. • Size, theme and materials are open to interpretation. • The form should be self supporting. • The piece must be “kinetic”.

  8. The Grade • The figures will be graded in competition and grades will be based on the following criteria… • Sound construction and craftsmanship • aesthetics and overall appearance • creative use of materials • originality of concept (in idea or execution)
