Geography Israel is located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea and is bordered by Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and the occupied territories of Gaza and the West Bank. The country has a variety of landscapes, including hills that run from the North into its center and a large depression, part of the Great Rift Valley, along its most Eastern lands. Israel's coastal plain runs parallel to the Mediterranean Sea and is bordered by stretches of fertile farmland extending up to twenty five miles. This plain contains over half of Israel's population, most of its industry, and much of its agriculture.
The Footsteps of Jesus City of David The footsteps of Jesus mark the most famous points and destinations throughout his life. The most famous of these would his birth in a manger in Bethlehem, the City of David. Also the Last Supper when Jesus was betrayed, and when he shared his last meal with his Twelve Apostles. During this meal he established the sacrement of the eucharist, where the wine is his blood and the bread is his body. Lastly Jesus is condemned and crucified to death, by the demand of the people. He is forced to carry the cross to Calvary from the place of his condemning. Jesus was crucified at a place called Golgotha. After three hours of taunting and suffering Jesus finally "gave up his spirit".
Architecture of Jerusalem Most of the monasteries, convents, shrines, and churches mark sights where Jesus and his diciples were associated with in the early years of christianity. In the later centuries the design of these buildings were influenced by religious traditions at the time. The building styles and methods were also influenced by the religious traditions of the time.
Chapel of the Nativity Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her first born, a son. She wrapped him in clothes and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. -Luke 2.1-7 According to the gospels of Luke and Matthew, the event that happened here was that Jesus was born here. Before being a church the Chapel of the Nativity was a simple manger just like in the Bible. Now it has become a famous chapel were tourists and common people pray. The church was built in 326 AD by the mother of the Roman Emperor, Constentine, named Helena. The latest renovations were made in 529 AD and is still untouched. It is also considered a well kept religous monument.
The Hall of the Last Supper Jesus' disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?" So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. Say to the owner of the house he enters, 'The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' He will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there." -Mark 14:12-15 This location is the place where Jesus Christ consumed his last meal with his disciples. The site of the Last Supper is not known and the Gospels provide few clues. It cannot be the present room, which was built in the 12th century. However, it is possible it stands over or near the original site of the Last Supper and/or Pentecost
Church of the Holy Sepulchre Jesus knew that he had now finished his work. And in order to make the Scriptures come true, he said, "I am thirsty!" A jar of cheap wine was there. Someone then soaked a sponge with the wine and held it up to Jesus' mouth on the stem of a hyssop plant. After Jesus drank the wine, he said, "Everything is done!" He bowed his head and died. -Matthew 27.45-56; Mark 15.33-41; Luke 23.44-49 The Church of the Holy Sepulchere is allegedly the empty tomb of the Lord, our Savior. This church is located in Jerusalem. In the early first century the ground of the church was a quarry. Many Church historians believed that this area is the burial ground of Jesus Christ. Christians held worship services until 66 AD. In 135 AD the Roman Emperor Hadrian built a temple in honor of Venus, the Roman Goddess of Beauty. In 384 AD the church was completed. Unfortunately, in 614 AD a fire severely damaged the church when the Persian’s invaded Jerusalem. As well as the attack on the city the Persian’s stole the true cross of Jesus in 630 AD. Four hundred years later in 1009 AD Fatimid Hakim, A Persian ruler ordered that the Church of Holy Sepulcher be destroyed. A wrecking crew destroyed the church. When Jerusalem was taken back, the New Emperor wanted to repair the church. In 1119 AD the shrine of Christ was replaced. In 1555 AD the Franciscans made the largest renovations. These renovations were negative and destroyed most of the Church. Overtime the environment did not do any good. In 1808 a fire hit the Church and in 1927 earthquake hit the church. The latest renovation was made in 1956.

Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. - Luke 24:50-51 This place is where Jesus Christ Rose to heaven. And bade farewell to his disciples and followers. In the chapel there is one room with a small pool. In the pool there is engraved Jesus' feet. This monument is located on the top of Mount Olives in Jerusalem. Unfortunately, the chapel had now been converted into a small mosque but luckily still contains the feet engraving of Jesus. The History of the Chapel is that in 390 AD the church was built by a roman princess.
