  1. KCHIP & I CaseChanges Effective November 1, 2008

  2. CHANGES • Beginning November 1, 2008 the KCHIP and I Categories will be implementing several changes. These changes have been detailed throughout this presentation. If you have specific questions regarding a case or case action, please contact your local Supervisor or Program Specialist.

  3. Overview • Applications can be mailed or faxed to a central location, a face-to-face interview will not be necessary. • After the application is received, it will be processed. Only when it is approved will it be transferred to the local office. • ONLY for children up to age 19; not for pregnancy cases.

  4. Overview • No MSE will be required for I cases; unless the parent wishes to pursue. • Applicants will have 30 days to return requested information, instead of 10. • Applicants that deny for failure to return information will have a 30 day grace period to return information without submitting a new application.

  5. Applications • Three ways to apply: • Completing and mailing the application to: P.O. Box 34090, Lexington KY 40588-4090 or faxing to: 859-246-2890 • Completing the application and returning it to the local DCBS Office. This application will be completed in the local office, not mailed to Lexington. • Completing a face-to-face interview in the local DCBS Office.

  6. Applications • Applications may be found at: • http://chfs.ky.gov/dms/kchipapply.htm • http://chfs.ky.gov/dms/kchip.htm • Hard copy versions will be available at Health Departments, Provider Offices, Family Resource Centers or by calling toll free 1-877-524-7418.

  7. Getting The Word Out • DMS developed an outreach program and will be traveling around the state meeting with providers (Health Departments, Family Resource Centers, Hospitals etc.). • DMS will send out notices to KCHIP recipients that have been denied or discontinued in the last 12 months, advising them they may apply by mail.
