End Extreme Poverty and Hunger • Lessen the amount of people living on $1 a day • End hunger • Provide jobs • Data that might show this: • % living below poverty • GINI Index (high indicates few rich; many poor) • Children under 5 underweight • Population living below ($1.00/ $1.25/ $2.00)/ day • Homeless population

  4. Achieve Universal Primary Education • Boys AND girls to complete a primary education • Educate girls and change the world • Data that might show this: • Literacy rates % – male and female • School Life expectancy • Mean (avg.)/expected years schooling • Child Labor %

  5. Empower Women • Equal pay and job opportunities for men and women, increase the amount of women in government • Data that might show this: • Male/Female Literacy rate • Share of seats in Parliament (government) % female • Labor force participation %- male/female • Secondary education rates- male/female

  6. Reduce Child Mortality • Lessen the amount of children that die before ages 1 and 5 as well as to increase immunizations • Data that might show this: • Infant mortality rate • Under 5 mortality rate • Infants lacking immunization

  7. Improve Maternal Health • Increase the number of births attended by doctors and decrease deaths of mothers • Data that might show this: • Maternal mortality rate • Physician density /1,000 pop

  8. Combat Disease (HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases) • Stop the spread of AIDS • Provide education to orphans of AIDS • Data that might show this: • HIV/AIDS adult prevalence rate % • HIV/AIDS deaths (comparison to World) • Major infectious disease risk (WFB)

  9. Protect the Environment • Decrease the loss of biodiversity • Increase access to clean water • Improve lives of **slumdwellers** • Data that might show this: • % land covered by forest • Carbon emissions per capita • Drinking water access • Sanitation access
