ASD101 – Part 2 Now the fun begins!
Think outside the PowerPoint box http://prezi.com/6zhudcyhsymt/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy
Why? Learning Objectives:- • Demonstrate their ability to carry out research independently and to use that information in their academic work successfully.
Demonstrate a systematic knowledge and understanding of: • How to conduct literature searches and utilise library sources • Effective techniques for active reading and note-taking • Appropriate citation of sources and referencing technique for Criminology and Social Policy • How to avoid plagiarism • Essay writing skills appropriate to the disciplines of Criminology and Social Policy, including the demonstration of higher-order thinking • How to work effectively as a member of a group
Transferrable Skills • Evidence their ability to make good use of information technology • Demonstrate their skills in obtaining information from various sources of data • Demonstrate their ability to assess and evaluate sources of information...
Choice & Use of source material: try to show evidence that you have done reading relevant to the assessment topic and accessed a range of sources (normally a minimum of six) that would be considered academically appropriate (e.g. books, chapters, journal articles, academic and official websites), rather than relying on lecture notes or less reliable sources such as newspapers and non-academic or non-official websites. Make at least some attempt to use primary sources (e.g. original texts/monographs, journal articles) rather than secondary sources (e.g. textbooks that describe/report arguments made by others rather than making original arguments).
