Activity 2 Scenario The National Infant Sleep Position Study began conducting national surveys in 1992 to examine how well parents were heeding recommendations to place sleeping babies on their backs or sides. For each year through 1996, researchers interviewed random samples of about 1000 parents of infants younger than 8 months of age, asking about the position in which the infant regularly slept (Willinger et al., 1998).
