STEP ONE Find an empty shoebox. The shoebox should ideally be medium size, as shown. IMPORTANT : Wrap the lid and the box SEPERATELY in wrapping paper. If you seal the box they will have to rip it all off to check what you’ve put inside !.

If you seal the box they will have to rip it all off to check what you’ve put inside! SUGGESTION: WORK IN GROUPS IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DO A BOX ON YOUR OWN!
STEP 2Decide if your gift is for a boy or girl • Tick the appropriate age box on the sticker provided. Then remove and stick on the top right of the lid. Make sure the label is secure • Collect your label from assembly or your form tutor if you don’t manage to get one
STEP 3Fill your box with gifts You DON’T have to spend lots of money on this, we are NOT asking you to spend money you can’t afford! BECAUSE OF NEW REGULATIONS, ALL GIFTS ARE ‘SUPPOSED’ TO BE NEW but there are lots of Pound Shops about and Charity shops have new items for sale. Also if you have items which are almost new or that you’ve never used or look new, put it in anyway and they can decide
STEP 3Fill your box with gifts Some Suggestions • Bear, soft toy, tennis ball, finger puppet, jigsaw, yo-yo, building blocks, small musical instrument. • For boys; trucks and cars • For girls; dolls, clip on earrings, etc. • IMPORTANT: NO WAR RELATED ITEMS e.g. toy soldiers, plastic weapons etc. TOYS!
STEP 3Fill your box with gifts EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES Felt pens, pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, colouring books, notepads, picture or puzzle books, chalk, pencil case, stickers, paper etc.
STEP 3Fill your box with gifts Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, hair clips, bar of soap, flannel, etc. Sweets (sell-by date to be at least March of the following year), gloves, scarf, sunglasses, cap, hat, bangles, necklaces etc. Hygiene items Other items

ONLY IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT…… Make your donation • If you don’t want to do a shoebox but would still like to donate something, please complete the donation envelope from the OCC leaflet and enclose a cash or cheque donation of around £2.50 per shoebox. Hand this to your tutor. You don’t have to do this
