PTC-py_ORBIT in its Infancy 1/2 Together with Sarah we have managed to run PTC-py_ORBIT for the case of the PS. To this end Sarah has provided a PYTHON version of the SUPERCODE script we have been using for PTC-ORBIT. The SNS team has provided a SVN repository of PTC-py_ORBIT, i.e. including PTC. Therefore, we would no longer need another SVN repository for the soon obsolete PTC-ORBIT code version. I have checked out this SVN in our standard Code AFS directory, added the newest PTC files and create the “pyORBIT” execcutableand the “libptc_orbit.so” library that work in tandem under PYTHON. Elena, Vincenzo, Raymod & Hannes have already been introduced to the running example. In fact, I have added the PS as one of the examples in the SVN example section. Eventually, it will be committed to the SVN repository. Sarah and myself had to take out certain features (collimators etc) that require interaction between pyORBIT and PTC that is not yet operational SC-38 Frank
PTC-py_ORBIT in its Infancy 2/2 Our Task We have to fully test the PS case and modify it to read the PSB and the SPS and test those too. From that we need to make a list of missing features and see with the SNS team that we get all we need in relatively short time. To this end, SKYPE session with the SNS team will be required. The goal should be to present a tested version of PTC-py_ORBIT at the “SC collaboration meeting May 2014”. The good news is that it seems that the “particle index” and the concept of a “SC visitor particle” are now available! Lastly, we have to make sure that all Harry’s fixes will be included in pyORBIT. On Friday morning I will discuss this with Harry. SC-38 Frank
