  2. Course Objectives • 由專家的豐富經驗中，在短時間內吸收最多 • 站在巨人的肩膀上走出自己的路 • 激發、啟蒙、加速獨立思考

  3. Talk Categories • Invited Expert Masters of Our Age (1~2) 劉興民教授負責 • Invited Speakers from Industry & Academia (8~10) • Doctorate Student Presentations (3  3 = 9)

  4. Course Rules • Sit in your assigned seat • Weekly attendance is REQUIRED! • No midterm test • No final exam • Submit at least THREE (3) review reports: • 1st report by end of October 2002 • 2nd report by end of November 2002 • 3rd report by end of December 2002

  5. Course Grading • Review reports 3  30 = 90% • Bad report (only contents from talk slides) • Good report (your own related materials) • Attendance • Absence: 5 points deduction for each absence • Bonus • Good question: 5 points for each good question posed to speaker

  6. Report Submissions • Late reports will NOT be accepted! • E-mail submission: TA will be assigned • PDF file formats: viewable, printable • Report format: • A4 page size: min: 1 page, max: 3 pages • Title: talk title, speaker name, date of talk • Author: your name, reg. number, lab room number, phone extension • Content format: no restriction (recommended: paper format)

  7. Doctorate Student Presentations • Starting from the most senior doctorate students still taking the course (3rd year PhD) • Presentation order: according to reg. number • Presentation schedule: • 3 presentations for each week assigned for such talks • Each presentation will be for 25 minutes, Q&A: 5 minutes • Dynamic scheduling (see web-page!) • PREPARE BEFOREHAND!!!!!! • Presentation grading: • One less report submission! • Grading will be as for one report (30%) • Bonus for ENGLISH presentations! (+20%)
