Timeline of Mafia Gangs Involving in Drugs December 11, 2006 Drug War between the Mexican government and the drug cartels (drug-dealing organizations) began. January 2011 The Mexican government authorized a law to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of drugs. Mafia Gangs being formed all across Mexico 2009-2010 2000 September 21, 1969 President Nixon announced that “Operation Intercept” (oversea launching drug search) to arrest any drug going overseas from Mexico to the United States. Unfortunately, this search of drugs lasted for only 20 days. 2008 The Mexican government finds countless numbers of gang members fighting and arguing with other gang members about drugs. The police has found 6,000 bodies all across Mexico. Many were been in gangs and mafias involved in drug dealing. April 29, 2006 The Congress of Mexico decriminalized possession of marijuana thinking that by doing this, people will stop using drugs but he was mistaken.
