  1. How to Become a Dentist: Full Guide

  2. A dental career is a great choice. The 2019 US News & World Report's Top 100 Jobs ranked dentistry in the top five of all career options, with three dental specialties (oral surgeon, prosthodontist and orthodontist) in the top 10. • In this guide, we'll discuss how to become a dentist in Hollywood Florida or anywhere and provide you with guidelines so you can maximize your chances of a dream career.

  3. How to Become a Dentist • To become a Hollywood Florida dentist, you need to invest heavily in your education. The vast majority of dental schools require a bachelor's degree to apply, and only a few schools offer fast track admissions after two or three years of undergraduate studies. Of the 66 accredited dental schools in the United States, 65 are four-year programs, with the exception of the University of the Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry, a three-year program as Dentist in Hollywood FL. • As with admission to medical schools, dental schools do not require a specific specialty. However, you will need to fulfill the dental school requirements, which include certain courses, Dental Entrance Exam (DAT) scores, and letters of recommendation.

  4. Upon graduation from dental school, the student will receive a DDS or DMD. These degrees are equivalent in all aspects, have the same requirements for an accreditation body and curriculum. • A short history lesson explains the difference between the two. The first dental school in the United States was the Baltimore College of Medicine, founded in 1840, which began awarding the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Shortly thereafter, Harvard founded a dental school. Since all their degrees are in Latin, they decided to award a DMD (Doctor MedicinaeDentariae or Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree. Since then, universities have been choosing which degree to award, with two-thirds currently offering DDS.

  5. How to Become a Dentist: Tips for high school students • 1. Talk to and Shadow Dentists • One of the best things you can do to research your career is to spend time with people who are already in the field. It is often best to start with a family dentist. Talk to your friends and family to see if anyone knows the dentist and is willing to introduce you. See if you can shade in the dentist's office and expand your experience and understanding in dentistry.

  6. 2. Prepare academically in the sciences • The path to and through dental school will require classes in the natural sciences, from biology to chemistry, from anatomy to pharmacology. High school science lessons can help you prepare for college by providing a solid foundation. • In addition, high school science lessons can help you decide if you will like some of the materials to be used in dental school. Don't be discouraged if biology isn't your favorite subject - many dentists and dental students study liberal arts, business, or other topics. For some, studying science is a means of becoming a dentist. In any case, make sure you understand the prerequisites for admission to dental school.

  7. 3. Pursue meaningful extracurricular activities • If you choose to pursue a career in clinical dentistry, you will interact with patients and provide medical care to them on a daily basis. Many will come to you with serious dental problems. To develop the skills you need to serve others, engage in meaningful extracurricular activities that provide you with a community outreach experience. The activities you choose do not have to be directly related to dentistry.

  8. Final Words • The journey to the dentist is long. Keep up with your science classes and extracurricular activities that prepare you for a dental career for Cosmetic Dentist in Hollywood Florida. By the time you are ready to go to dental school, you will be armed with the skills and experience you need to become an excellent Cosmetic Dentist in Hollywood FL.
