Changes The Continuing Education Committee was renamed to: Professional Development Committee This is language that is consistent across most healthcare disciplines
Special Interest Groups • Establish communication platforms • Establish guiding principles by which groups with Special Interests can organize • Facilitate and promote the Development of SIG’s i.e. - Academies • Preceptors • Program Directors • Interprofessional Education in AT
Professional Education Recommendation #2 The NATA with Support from the Strategic Alliance, should conduct a detailed analysis specifically focused on professional education in AT.
Progress Report A “white paper” is being developed by 2 workgroups of content experts. The process is under the direction of Sara Brown and Jolene Henning. • The white paper is intended to identify pro’s and con’s as well as make a recommendation as to the appropriate Professional Degree for AT. This is a starting point for the conversation not a decision!
General Topics of the remaining • Interprofessional Education • Alignment of programs in Schools of Health Professions • Development of mechanisms for career advancement and skill development • Use of Contemporary Disablement model language • Transition to Practice
Exciting and Challenging Times • As you can tell, the agenda is comprehensive and forward thinking. • This will require all of us to participate in the dialogue respectfully and collegially in order to move the profession forward. • I enthusiastically welcome this dialogue and challenge each of us to participate in the process.
