Made a set of laws called the Code of Hammurabi • Had a taxing system • The Babylonians created a calendar • Babylonians created a 360 degrees circle Babylonians
Kassites tried for many years to take over Babylon • The Hittites came in on chariots and ransacked the city for money • The Kassites then finally conquered Babylon • The Hittites made tools and weapons out of iron Kassites and Hittites
The Assyrians learned warfare from the Hittites • They used chariots and men on horses for cavalry • They made the first postal system • They had actual plumbing! Assyrians
Most famous king was Nebuchadnezzar • He was known for the great buildings he made • After being totally demolished, the Neo Babylonians once again became the central of civilization • Neo Babylonians made the Tower of Babel which people could not understand one another Neo Babylonians
I learned in this chapter that over time Mesopotamia was a very war drawn place with many different empires. Some of those empires were war empires that conquered and killed or peaceful ones that were just centralized governments. Overall I have learned a lot about ancient Mesopotamia in this chapter.
