Consider the Ant • What the ant isn’t: • Strong • What the ant is: • Wise – because he plans ahead • The ant • Prepares for harder seasons • It’s about forward thinking
Consider the Ant • We need to be forward thinking • Temptations: John 16:33 • Trials: James 1:14 • Christ’s return: 1 Peter 1:13 • To tell others: 1 Peter 3:15
Consider the Ant • Other truths about ants: • Ants work with what they’ve been given • Ands don’t wear out easily • Ants don’t waste time complaining
Consider the Coney • What the coney isn’t: • Powerful • What the coney is: • Wise – because he knows where to stay • The coney • Cute, cuddly, soft • But burrows among the rocks when predators are near
Consider the Coney • Our best attributes can be our biggest liabilities • The coney is aware of its own weaknesses • It realizes it must depend on something greater than itself for safety and security • Are you aware of your weaknesses? • What sins trouble you? • What gets you sidetracked? • What thoughts hound you?
Consider the Coney • The coney goes to the ROCK! • Do you? • Our main temptation: “I can do it alone!” • What we really need is God • Psalm 62:6-7 “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.”
Consider the Locust • What they don’t have: • A king • What they do have: • Wisdom – they know there is strength in numbers • Locusts: • Swarms from 1/3 to several hundred sq. miles • A large swarm consumes 20,000 tons/day
Consider the Locust • If the church unites • We are too great a force to be reckoned with • John 17 • We would be one as He and the Father are one • Put aside differences for the sake of Christ • God is about His people working together • 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.”
Consider the Lizard • What lizards are: • Easy to catch, small, insignificant • But notice this: • Although they can be caught in the hand (this means they are small and unimpressive) • They find there way into the greatest places on earth • Lizards never stop growing
Consider the Lizard • Are you continuing to grow? • In your relationships • In your employment situation • In your attitudes • If not, let God do some surgery on you • If you never get rid of the junk in your life • That junk will consume you!
Consider the Lizard • Do you have aspirations? • Do you believe in yourself? • God believes in you! • Jesus said: “I have chosen you and appointed you” • 1 Peter 2:9: We are a “chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”
