Learning/Teaching/Training Activities • The C1 deliverable has been completed in Copenhagen, Aalborg, Denmark (April 2019)
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • I hoped to learn some new skills, especially soft skills mentioned in the program of the course (motivation to participate) • Expectations met:
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • Some of the teachers delivered boring and low quality lectures • There was a lack of overall cohesion in the course • In the next editions I would address at least some of the following issues:1. Country information. Provide information for outbound students about the country they are visiting (transportation apps or services, costs, etc).2. Additional software. Do not assume attendees will have virtual machines installed on their computers. If additional software is required, please inform what it should be installed.3. Speakers. The process of selecting teachers/speakers who present should be improved. Some of them were really inspirational, while some of them just read the slides.
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • The presentation venue was not great, the auditorium was too large for the crowd and it meant we could all hide in the back. Another problem was that the mic was of low quality. Presentations felt uninspiring and un-rehearsed, the delivery was flat, and overall it felt as if a lot of the professors were just reading from their slides. They should have taken notes during the "how to present" lecture. So in conclusion great idea with lots of room for improvement There was a lack of overall cohesion in the course • The teaching staff and topics that were brought to the event should be picked more carefully - some people were not engaging at all, which severely decreased the attention of the crowd on some interesting/useful topics, and some topics were too specific to be of relevance to everyone; either bring more generic topics or narrow the courses that you invite. It would also be nice to have a few more group activities, since it's one of the best ways to learn something
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • It could be a good idea to have a little more "teambuilding" exercises during the lectures. So maybe a little more group-work for each topic, so you get more activated, and you are "pushed" into mingling with the different nationalities, as it seemed to have been part of the objectives of the course • The majority of given talks were of poor quality i.e. they were boring and not all speakers really put enough effort to teach us students. I am talking about their soft skills during presentation rather than their professional level. They were not of a good example how one should present their work. • Concerning soft skills if we're about to develop them then in my opinion we should practice more, not just listen to others. Especially when they give a poor quality talk (concerning those soft skills). Maybe some workshop or presentation like Journal Club ones would be a good idea.
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • From social site, we could have used some ice breaking activities. That one small activity during the second day was helpful but not enough. The strong advantage of an international IC/student school is you meet various people from various countries. But when you don't interact with them it's nothing. Of course we could have done it by ourselves, which we have finally done, but a small help from organizers would be appreciated. Maybe the local students could have helped with that?
Learning / Teaching /Training Activities • Received Criticism / Negative Feedback: • Moreover the content of the course was really mixed - from quantum computing to PBL learning. I believe that there was no leading thought during the course. Most of the lectures were poorly presented which is unacceptable within the course that concentrates on the soft skills, innovations, presentations and new approach to the teaching • I believe that a better idea would be to, for instance, organize workshops demanding writing scientific abstracts instead of just a lecture about how it should be done. Especially soft skills can be obtained much more effectively when they are taught practically, not just theoretically. In my opinion there is a lot of place for further improvement.
Learning / Teaching / Training Activities • What to do to become better: • Create a more engaging and interactive presentation • Create a more focused and cohesive programme of the Intensive Course • Contacts with local students, more opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges • More collaborative tasks and group work • Less lecturing, more hands-on experience (workshops and knowledge put in practice) • Rethinking of evaluation procedures
Learning / Teaching / Training Activities Learning/Teaching/Training Activities Two training activities have taken funding (from the four has been designed) along the CRETE projects’ lifetime: • In IPP, 20 - 24th of April 2020 (C2, C6) Topic: The Most Critical Skills for an Engineer of 2020 Duration:Five days (without the traveling days) Schedule: A draft schedule has been released within the project’s proposal Funded Participants: 20 Students (five from each Institution) / 12 Academics: 4 (TEIoC), 2 (IPP), 2 (TMMA), 2 (UW), EVM (1), W2L (1) / Extra staff mobility should be covered through the Erasmus Plus International mobility. Ten students and four lecturers from AAU should contribute to the course curriculum
Learning / Teaching / Training Activities • Journal Club - Students will be splitted into multinational teams and will be called to work together on a scientific paper that during the last day will make a presentation • Presentations of their countries & Institutions • Each student should do the 16 personality on line test and during the school try to find five students that match him or her better - check here
Learning/Teaching/Training Activities • The evening sessions will be devoted to workshops that will envision the cultivation of the soft skills & scientific writing (12 - 16 hours) • Other suggestions…….
Learning / Teaching / Training Activities • In IPP, during April 2020 (C2, C6)
Other Future Actions • Please suggest how are you going to exploit the CRETE modules within your curricula • Please suggest / propose other projects that CRETE can be integrated • Suggestions of future & continuation of CRETE • Other suggestions…….
