Cadet Corps History • Founded on April 5, 1911 • Brigadier General Edwin Alexander Forbes • Forbes is the “Father” of the Cadet Corps • Adjutant General of the State of California in 1911 • Decided to start a program called the California High School Cadets to train officers for WWI. In 1935 the name was changed to the California Cadet Corps.

  11. Cadet Corps Patch Patch Colors Blue and Gold are official colors of California Grizzly Bear The grizzly bear is the official state animal Torch of Learning Represents the Cadet Corps as a school program Sword Represents the military part of the Cadet Corps

  12. Cadet Corps Motto • ESSAYONS • A French word • Means “Let us try” • We put forth our best effort and stay with the job until the job is done • Pronounced “Es-Say-Yohn”
