  3. Testudines Phylum: Animals with notochord. Animal Kingdom: Animals Reptilia class: scales and the ability to lay hard shelled eggs. Chelonia order: all turtles, tortoises, and terrapins. Testudinae: major group of land tortoises. Genus: Agrionemus or testudo Species Horsfieldii: the man that discovered the tortoise was horsfield. Reasons for classification
