Douglas Manor AssociationWho We Are • The Douglas Manor Association was established in 1906 • Its mission was to create the planned community • Its membership comprises over 600 homes • Owns and maintains longest privately owned shorefront in New York City, including the beach, pier, operational dock and Memorial Field Park • One of three communities in the nation to have won the America’s Cup (1871 Sappho)
Douglas Manor AssociationWhat We Do • DMA has 15 resident members on its Board of Directors who are required to enforce the organization’s bylaws • DMA members observe deed restrictions • DMA members honor New York City Landmark guidelines • DMA members dues are used to care for common property, and to sustain and improve the quality of life
Douglas Manor AssociationHow We Do It • New office next to LIRR Station, is staffed from 10:00AM to 5:00PM, weekdays, with a new full-time secretary. • New website at www.dmanyc.org, with current news, activities and basic data references. • Manor Matters newsletter distributed bi-monthly to all members, and posted on website. • Maintenance staff and camera surveillance systems help maintain and protect common property; Security service helps protect the Manor community.
Douglaston Little NeckHistoric Society • The D/LN Historic Society is dedicated to preserving the community’s visual culture and Landmark status • Home to the Douglaston Historic District’s Permanent Historic Collection including over 300 artifacts, maps and architectural documents for Douglas Manor • The architecture committee is a resource for building alteration proposals, such as renovations, additions and new construction
Douglas ManorA Landmark Community • Residents are required to file with New York City and the Landmarks Commission for renovations, additions and new construction to their properties • Residents must comply with deed restrictions • Septic systems must be maintained in accordance to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) regulations • Security patrol can ensure the safety of the community, but we encourage members to be watchful
Douglas ManorEnvironmental Association • Douglas Manor’s Environmental Association is dedicated to preserving the scenic beauty of the community shore • Manages open space and recreational space for public use • Promotes environmental awareness and values conservation practices • Encourages community participation in the planning, development and maintenance of local recreational areas

Douglaston Schools • The community is regarded as having some of the best schools in New York City • St. Anastasia, located in Bayside, is a private Catholic School open to pre-k to 8th Grade students • Universal Pre-Kindergarten is available at Douglaston Community Church • P.S. 98 The Douglaston School • J.H.S. 67 Louis Pasteur Middle School • Benjamin N. Cardozo High School
Douglas ManorThe Shore • The community’s docks are fully operational and managed by the DMA • The Douglaston Yacht Squadron, founded in 1928, is the local yacht club • The Junior Sailing Program is open to children 7 years and older (swimmers only) • The Douglaston Club facilitates, DYS, dining rooms, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a bowling alley
