Topic Information Behavior of Secondary School Teachers in Workplace
Subject Group • A group of secondary school teachers in Hong Kong
Objective • To investigate and understand the information behavior of our subject group, secondary school teachers, particularly in the area of accessibility and use of information sources.
Our Focus 1. Information Seeking Objectives / Triggers for Information 2. Search Processes 3. Availability and Accessibility of Information Sources
Methodology • Target Respondents About 50 secondary school teachers in different ranks with various years of teaching experience and teaching different subject areas
Questionnaire • Participants are invited to fill in a questionnaire with 16 questions about their personal background, the IT facilities at school and their information seeking behavior. • From the result we can understand what trigger them to seek information, how often they use their preferable information sources, why they opt particular information sources and how they search information in the internet.
Results and Analysis • Based on the data collected, we will attempt to describe and analyze the information behavior of secondary school teachers in workplace. • We also attempt to synthesize a model depicting the information behavior of secondary school teachers.
