  4. RL = Religious Leader: i.e. Rabbi, Pastor, Mufti RO = Religious Organization: i.e. Synagogue, Church, Mosque, Temple

Planning Meeting • OBTAIN NEW INFORMATION OR UPDATE OLD • Key People: Secretary, RL, School Principal, President of Temple or Parish Council • Councils, Committees, Prayer groups, Youth Groups • Opportunity to present to a group • Total population • Population that attends services • # and times of services • Services in other languages • Best form of communication – email isn’t loved by all! • Events held during the year • THOU SHALT TAKE THIS INFO AND UPDATE HEMASPHERE!!

Are your results going up or down? • How does this fit with the population of the RO? • Provide a past history to your accounts. • Beware of floating holidays! (e.g. Passover, Easter, Ramadan) • Don’t forget day of drive needs • Set up / breakdown issues • Creative staffing

Notice in Bulletin/Newsletter • How many weekends? • Deadline for printed announcements? • Do you have a copy on file? • What does it say? • Personal story of a Parish member? • Do you state the goal? • Do you ask for volunteers? • What do you need Volunteers to do? 10% 8% 35% 47%

  10. Recruitment 101 • 2. Appeals and Sign-up • Who does the appeal? • Do you provide a sample script? • What is said? • Multiple services? Appeal should be made at all. • Are there pledge cards in pews? • Where is the sign-up? • Who sits at the table? • Could you involve the youth groups or religious education classes? • Over how many weekends is the drive promoted?

  11. Recruitment 101 • 3. Calling Past Donors • Who calls past donors? • What is the script? • Does the RO have a membership list? • Can a committee call them? Calling works for recruitment and reminders! Call no-shows day of drive too!

  12. Recruitment 102 • Events are already important to RO • Social or Recognition Events • Mitzvah Day • Choir, Basketball, Youth group • Summer Carnival, etc. • Some are recruitment opportunities. • Some are drive opportunities.

School / Religious Education • Flyer home with kids • Confirmation Class / Bar/Bat Mitzvah Class support • Weekday school events: Parent Teacher Night Concerts / Play Health Fair • Little Doctors Program® Increased Frequency Increased Penetration – New Donors Present to 4-8th grades Utilize kids to do appeal/sign-up/thank yous Older kids to make appeal A different population may support the school vs. RO

Thank you, Thank you very much • Once the drive is done • Call the CP to say “Thank you!” • Report results • Discuss future dates • Give verbiage for a thank you to donors • Ask for this to be read from the altar and printed in the bulletin • Ask for any drive feedback and then… • THOU SHALT TAKE THIS INFO AND UPDATE HEMASPHERE!!

Beginning on Friday night following Shabbat (sundown) through Havdalah services (sundown Saturday). – Orthodox & Conservative Jews • No caffeine allowed in their buildings. - LDS • Men & Women need to be separated during donation. This is a possible staffing concern too. – Muslims & Orthodox Jews • Some groups must have a kosher canteen. • (Staff might not be allowed to bring in food either)
