  1. You need to improve the way you write and think in Spanish – At what time? This is an interactive presentation. You need your worksheet, your pencil, and your Spanish book or dictionary. ~Sra. J. L. Dunnigan Raleigh, NC

  2. #2 Time • You already know how to tell the time when someone asks you for it. • Now you will learn how to tell at what time an event takes place.

  3. #3 Before • Before you asked, ¿Qué hora es? • Now the question is ¿A qué hora es...(the event)? • What time is ...(the event)? • In Spanish the phrase is literally translated as At what time is...(the event)?

  4. #4 Side Note • When you have a preposition in the question, you have a preposition in your answer.

  5. #5 Examples • What time is lunch? • ¿A qué hora es el almuerzo? • The answer changes. You want to say lunch is at 12:00, not it is 12:00. • So instead of writing Son las doce. You need to write El almuerzo esa las doce.

  6. #6 Practice • Find #6 on your worksheet. Translate the following and write them down. • 1. (At) what time is the dance? (el baile) • 2. The dance is at 8:00 PM. • 3. (At) what time is your Science class? (clase de ciencias) • 4. My class is at 9:00 AM. • Did you remember that when you have AM or PM you have to add de la mañana or de la noche?

  7. #7 Check Your Answers • If you made a mistake, fix it. • 1. ¿A qué hora es el baile? • 2. El baile es a las ocho de la noche. • 3. ¿A qué hora es tu clase de ciencias? • 4. Mi clase es a las nueve de la mañana.

  8. #8 Independent Practice • Find #8 on your worksheet and write these in Spanish. • 1. (At) what time do you go home? • 2. I go home at 3:30 in the afternoon. • 3. What time is breakfast? (el desayuno) • 4. Breakfast is at 7:00 AM. • 5. What time do you practice soccer? • 6. I practice soccer at 5:00.

  9. #9 Let’s See if You Know the Difference Between Telling Time and Telling at What Time Something Will Happen • Find #9 on your worksheet and write your answers. • 1. It is 4:00. • 2. My class is at 3:00. • 3. What time is it? • 4. What time do you go to school? • 5. At 6:00. • 6. It is 1:00. • 7. At 1:00.

  10. #10 El Fin • Check your answers and turn your paper in to your teacher.
