Definition of Church Administration Church Administration is a spiritual service to the body of Christ that involves the wise stewardship of God’s resources for the accomplishment of the work of ministry. It deals with the organization and operations that govern the Organization. It is a means for serving people effectively, while making efficient use of resources in a manner that glorifies God.

  3. Purpose for Church Administration Equips the church to be the church and to do the work of the church in a coherent and comprehensive manner. It is the guidance provided by church leaders as they lead the church to use its spiritual, human, physical and financial resources to move the church toward reaching its objectives and fulfilling its purpose. Church Administration enables the people of God who make up the church to become and do what they can become and do.

Why Does Church Administration Matter It helps people understand where the ministry is going It helps ministries within the church function more effectively It’s necessary for effective collaboration It results in excellent communication within and outside of the ministry Its not reactive but proactive Is brings structure and organization It helps to carry out the vision of the church through planning and executing

  5. Why Does Church Administration Matter It’s about good stewardship – people, resources and time. Effectiveness and efficiency with kingdom mindset results in proper stewardship It looks after the details – brings the big picture into focus Brings balance to prevent leadership from being burnt out, people from being worn out and the money from running out. Keeps the church legal by making sure the proper filings have been made, records are being kept, accounting is being handled. Builds trust because when you handle things well, particularly finances, people will learn to trust you and your judgement.

What should every Church Administrative team have in place? • Administrative Systems - Your system will allow for effective planning & scheduling as well as a means of communication to leadership and congregation • How do you communicate within the church? • Texting, Emailing, Letters, Social Media, Telephones calls, Announcements, Ads, Banners, Posters, Church App, etc. • How do you communicate or market outside of the church? • Mass Advertising via print, digital, media, etc. • How do you coordinate and communicate with ministry leaders to activate plans?

  7. What should every Church Administrative team have in place? • Financial Systems • Budgeting for the vision and plans • Accounting for funds received and spent • Reporting to Leadership and Congregation • Compliance with policies, procedures and laws
