  2. Zeus • Zeus is the king of the other 11 Olympian gods • He is also the god of the sky • Zeus’s emblem is the master lightning bolt

  3. Poseidon • Poseidon, one of Zeus’s brothers, is the god of the sea • Poseidon’s emblem is the sea trident

  4. Hades • Hades, also a brother of Zeus, is the god of the Underworld, where all dead spirits go to • His emblem is the helm of darkness

  5. Hera • Hera is the goddess of the Heavens • She is also Zeus’s wife

  6. Athena • Athena, Zeus’s daughter is the goddess of battle and wisdom • Athena was born out of Zeus’s thoughts

  7. Aphrodite • Aphrodite is the goddess of love • She is married to the god of fire, Hephaestus

  8. Hephaestus • Hephaestus is the god of fire • He is married to Aphrodite

  9. Apollo • Apollo is the god of the sun • Every day, Apollo gets on his sun chariot and rides across the sky to warm mother Earth • He has a twin sister, Artemis

  10. Artemis • Artemis is the Goddess of the Hunt • The Hunt is a group of maidens who swore an oath to serve Artemis forever and turn their back on men • She is Apollo’s twin sister

  11. Hermes • Hermes is the messenger of the gods • He has sandals with wings

  12. Ares • Ares is the god of war • He and Aphrodite are having an affair

  13. Dionysus • Dionysus is the god of wine • He is the only god to be born twice
