  1. The Tastier Food Is Not Always the Better Choice By: Mia Scutti & Sara Takhim

  2. Purpose The tastier food is not always the better choice. GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding. The purpose of this project is healthy food can taste the same, if not better, than the traditional foods.

  3. Natural ingredients are good because they do not have GMOs

  4. GMOs are not healthy and it is good to stay away from them

Even though foods with GMOs may taste good, they can have harmful effects such as : • Food Allergy- people can develop allergic reactions because of too many foods with GMO’s • Increased Toxicity- Most plants produce substances that are toxic to humans but foods with GMOs have more toxic substances • Decreased Nutritional Value- GMOs make foods unhealthier than they already are. • Antibiotic Resistance- GMOs can cause bacteria in people’s bodies to resist the antibiotics and they will stay sick

  6. Ingredients for Brownies • ½ cup of butter • 1 cup of white sugar • 2 eggs • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract • ½ cup of all purpose flower • 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder • ¼ teaspoon of salt • ¼ teaspoon of baking powder

Directions • Preheat oven to 350 • Grease and flour an 8” square pan • Melt ½ cup of butter. • Remove the butter from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla • Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. • Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes Do not overcook. When brownies are done let them sit and cool off, then cut and serve.

  8. Ingredients for Giant Cookie • 1 cup of softened butter • ¾ cup of white sugar • ¾ cup of packed brown sugar • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract • 2 eggs • 2 ¼ cups of all purpose flower • 1 teaspoon of salt • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

Directions • In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy • Gradually add flour, salt, and baking soda • Beat until well blended • Stir in chocolate chips • Spread in greased 14” round pizza pan • Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes Do not overcook. When the cookie is done let tit sit and cool off, then cut and serve.
